Homemade Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softener!

Are you looking to save money on laundry detergent and fabric softener? You could try making your own! Crazy Couponing admin Caitlin does it and she says it costs her about $18 for 8 months worth! That's definitely major savings! Here are her recipes!

Homemade Laundry Detergent

1 quart Water (boiling)
2 cups Bar soap Ivory(put into microwave for 2 min it will not make a mess but it will crumble into the water and speed up cook time)
2 cups Borax
2 cups Washing Soda
Add finely grated bar soap to the boiling water and stir until soap is melted. You can keep on low heat until soap is melted.
Pour the soap water into a large, clean pail and add the Borax and Washing Soda. Stir well until all is dissolved.
Add 2 gallons of water, stir until well mixed.
Cover pail and use 1/4 cup for each load of laundry. Stir the soap each time you use it (will gel).

Homemade Fabric Softener

4 cups water
3 cups white vinegar
2 cups hair conditioner

Mix water, vinegar, and hair conditioner in a 1 gallon container; stir. Do not shake it; it will cause foaming.
Use the same amount you normally use in a rinse cycle or spritz it on a wash cloth and throw in dryer.

And here's my recipe for homemade Febreeze!
