Why I haven't been couponing
I have been working on finishing my Bachelor's degree. It has been a long dream of mine to finish, so last year, after becoming a certified wedding planner (yes, that's a real thing!), I decided my next goal was to finish my degree. I had a year and a half left, but I was determined to get it all done within one year. What was I thinking?
Well, I was thinking that I needed to set a deadline for myself, or I wouldn't get done. I am the type of person to get motivated for a bit, but then lose interest. I needed to kick my own butt into gear. So after taking one summer session, two full semesters of four classes each, and 4 CLEP/DSST exams, I was finally done! On June 9th, 2015, I attended my commencement ceremony at Carnegie Hall in NYC. It was the most exciting and liberating time in my life.
I did all of this while trying to maintain a digital media internship for a wedding planner and having two children. One of which is 2.5 years old and very demanding. So couponing took a backseat.
Saving money IS important to me. It should be important to anyone with a family. But, it's not the most important thing. There has been so much going on, and I just decided not to burden myself with more than I needed to.
In addition, I just feel the deals aren't there anymore. Rite Aid is my favorite store to coupon at (and closest to me) and once they got rid of Video Values and +Up Rewards, I felt that the deals just got worse. I do live near a Walgreens, but I don't find myself having enough time to go there and coupon.
That being said, I plan on trying to get the deals once again. Thank you all for bearing with me. Crazy Couponing was never a money-making venture for me, nor was it ever a full time job. It's always been a hobby. I just didn't realize it would be a hobby that got so big! So thank you for all the kind messages and well-wishes while I've been on a sabbatical. But it's time to get back to the art of saving!
